Postage for a first-class letter will increase to eight cents Sunday. The new rate will still be cheaper than in 1847 when the Post Office Department began the general issuance of five and ten cent postage stamps. First-class postage continues to be one of the best and most economical products in America today, as it takes the average American worker 1.4 minutes to earn the price of the eight-cent stamp.
