IN 1921

There will be no interference by the authorities of the branch of the Ku Klux Klan organized here three weeks ago, provided its members obey the law, according to a statement made by the district attorney and Chief H. D. Harper of the police department. News that the organization had a foothold in Colorado Springs was published several weeks ago and, since then, the authorities have been conducting a quiet investigation.

IN 1946

Miss Helen Van De Car, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Van De Car, has been selected Girl of the West, announced Jasper Ackerman, secretary of the rodeo association. She will be hostess to the 1946 Colorado Springs Rodeo, held at Penrose stadium August 21-25.

IN 1971

El Paso County Democratic Chairman Robert Maytag has appointed three 18-year-olds as committee-men. Stephen Foster, Radene Roberts and Judith Martinez have experience and interest in working with the campaign process. Local Democrats and Republicans have noted that registrations to vote have been slow, and the parties are trying to get young people involved following passage of the 26th Amendment to allow 18-year-olds to vote.
