THE BEGINNING OF FREE AGENCY
• Bradley Beal quickly agreed to a deal to stay with the Wizards as free agency opened Thursday. He will make $251 million over the next five seasons after re-signing with Washington, one day after turning down $37 million for this coming season from the team with whom he’s spent the entirety of his 10year career.
• P.J. Tucker will sign a three-year, $33.2 million deal to join forces with Joel Embiid and James Harden, according to sources.
The Sixers also will add Danuel House to a twoyear, $8.5 million deal. Tucker and House officially came agreements on Thursday. Their contracts can be finalized after noon on July 6.
• Center Javale Mcgee has agreed to sign with the Mavericks, according to a source, after the team prioritized the 34-year-old veteran as their first post-jalen Brunson pursuit.
ESPN reported Mcgee’s contract to be three years for up to $20.1 million, with a player option for the final season.
• Gary Harris, an unrestricted free agent, plans to return to the Orlando Magic.
Harris was finalizing a 2-year, $26 million deal, which can’t become official until 12:01 p.m. on July 6, to return to the Magic Thursday evening, his agents told ESPN.
• The Chicago Bulls finalized a deal with Andre Drummond on a two-year, $6.6 million deal, according to ESPN.
A two-time All-star, the 6-foot-10 is an adept rebounder, which would help the Bulls improve on one of their weakest areas. Drummond, 28, averaged 7.9 points and 9.3 rebounds in 2021-22 between the Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets and averaged double-digit rebounds in the eight seasons prior.
• The Timberwolves are adding free-agent forward Kyle Anderson, who played the past four seasons for Memphis, an NBA source confirmed.
The deal is for two years and $18 million.
• Jalen Brunson called off his meeting with the Mavericks and will sign with the Knicks on a four-year deal worth roughly $110 million, a source confirmed Thursday.
The news was expected after the Knicks used draft picks to clear the cap space for Brunson, who will serve as the lead guard for a squad that hopes to climb back to relevance.
• Mo Bamba agreed to terms to return to the Magic with a 2-year, $21 million contract, Yahoo Sports reported Thursday.
The deal can’t become official until 12:01 p.m. on July 6.
Bamba, the No. 6 pick in the 2018 draft, finished the final season of his 4-year, $24.1 million rookie-scale contract in 2021-22.
