IN 1922

Fruitless efforts were made by local radio fans last night to tune in and hear the sermon broadcasted from Shreveport, La., by Rev. M. E. Dodd, pastor of the First Baptist church at that place. The existence of static electricity in the atmosphere is believed to have prevented the receiving of the sermon here.

IN 1947

Echoes of the olden days were heard this morning from Harry Garnett, former advertising manager of the Gazette Telegraph, who at the 1922 Colorado Springs rodeo, held where the Alexander Film company building now stands, took what is probably the most famous bronc busting photograph ever made, one of Soapy Williams on Firefly.

IN 1972

The U.S. Postal Service has requested bids on three highway contracts. The route between Colorado Springs and the Air Force Academy specifies two trips daily in a vehicle with not less than 500 cubic feet of useable space. The daily route between Colorado Springs and Fountain requires only 250 cubic feet of space. Route 80877 calls for delivery of mail to customers out of the Bethune, Colo., post office.
