WALDO FRANKLIN PENDLETON

March 28, 1933 August 2, 2022

Waldo Franklin Pendleton, 89, passed away on August 2, 2022. He was a resident of Colorado Springs for 65 years and was formerly from Milton, Kentucky. He was an electrician and worked for several contractors, finishing his career with Whitney Electric. Waldo was born on March 28th, 1933, to Waldo Calvert & Rebecca Pearline (Moore) Pendleton in Madison, Indiana (dad never forgave his mom for going across the river to have him). He graduated from North Madison H.S. where he played basketball. After H.S. he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly served for 4 years active duty & 4 years in the reserves. On June 15th, 1956, he married Joanne Foley in Canaan, Indiana. Waldo & Joanne moved to Colorado Springs in 1957, to further his electrical career. Waldo joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union #113 and proudly served as their Assistant Business Agent for several years. Waldo loved the outdoors…whether it was hunting or fishing or camping with his RV groups. He was fond of music, either playing, listening, dancing or singing (many nights were enjoyed by his family with sing a long around the kitchen table as Waldo played the guitar). He was a member of The Church at Woodmoor. He was also a Lifetime Member of the National Rifleman’s Association, a member of the American Legion #0209, a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He actively participated in Family Campers & AARP #1100. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Grand Lodge of Indiana (Canaan #581).

Waldo was always willing to help a friend or a neighbor in need but would rarely ask for a favor in return. On hunting trips dad would entertain the younger men (his “sons”) with life stories and anecdotes, the campfires were never boring with Waldo.

He is survived by his children: Waldo S. (Cheryl) and Rebecca (William); his sister in-law Susie B; his grandchildren Khala Watson, Colson Watson, Brigitte Green and Cory Hankemeier and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Joanne, his parents, brothers-in-law Bill Foley & D.R. Foley, sistersin-law Margie Whitton, Maxine Gordon, Mary Ann Foley and two infant children.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 on Wednesday, August 17th 2022 at The Shrine of Remembrance. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 18th 2022 at the Shrine of Remembrance. A reception will be held following the memorial at the I.B.E.W. Local Union 113 Hall, 2150 Naegele Road, Colorado Springs 80904. Memorials in Waldo’s name may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children (www. love to the rescue. org). Dad/fatboy/papo/grandpa “P”/great Grandpa “P” will truly be missed and loved always…and from his children…love you Anyways! We hope you and mom are together and dancing again.
