IN 1922

Be careful of fire is the warning sent out by Chief P. D. Mccartin of the department. The lack of moisture for the past few weeks has created an exceedingly dry condition that is dangerous, especially where fires are built. Yesterday the fire department answered three alarms.

IN 1947

Henry Wallace’s summer home at Green Mountain Falls has been purchased by Mr. Bailey of Manter, Kan., a well-known rancher and horse breeder, announced Elmer Brown, Jr., of the Brown Realty company, who handled the transaction. The sale includes the large spring-fed house and 40 acres of timberland. . The smaller guest house, former vice president Wallace’s grandmother’s favorite, will be retained by the Wallace family for vacations.

IN 1972

The League of Women Voters of Colorado have prepared a brochure that deals with all the 12 amendments that will appear on the ballot at the Nov. 7 election. The pamphlet gives the pros and cons of each amendment to help voters reach a decision in voting. Each amendment, in itself, is lengthy and confusing, which prompted the league to undertake the project.
