During the 1940s, Parade highlighted dozens of men and women whose work involved serving our country on the battlefield and off. Among them was the “girl chemist developing secret weapons against battlefront diseases,” the soldier on KP duty, the military policeman, the female factory worker assembling a bomber’s nose and the parachuting marines.
