The Colorado Springs Gazette final

BACK PAGES

IN 1923

Colorado Springs billiards fans will be given an opportunity to see a champion in “real Action” when Ralph Greenleaf plays Tommy Hueston at the Dixon-miller parlors. The former won from the latter in Denver, 150 to 78 and 150 to 43. Although the champ dresses like a Beau Brummel, he plays as one would expect of a top-notcher.

IN 1948

Two men appearing in police court on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol were sentenced to 15-days in jail, besides being fined $300 and having their driver’s licenses revoked. Magistrate Babcock told them that it is difficult for him to impose a sentence that may injure a man in his business or employment, but added that driving a car under the influence was a serious offense.

IN 1973

Getting ready for the Pikes Peak Cat Fanciers, show, Sandy Masciarelli demonstrated pre-show preparations for Heather, her Persian. Heather, with newly clipped nails, plants one foot firmly on either side of the sink, refusing to be immersed in that awful stuff. Sandy patiently gets the cat into the water to wash the long outer fur and dense undercoat. The process complete, a dripping Heather leaps to the safety of Sandy’s arms.
