STORYLINES THAT I’M FOLLOWING

AT OTHER RINKS

• After being swept by Minnesota Duluth, St. Cloud State dropped from No. 1 to No. 5. The Huskies had previously swept DU before last week’s losses.

• Denver moved up one spot to No. 4 after defeating Colorado College 2-0 at Ball Arena on Friday.

• In addition to moving up one spot, so did the teams ranked No. 2 through No. 4. Minnesota is the nation’s new No. 1, while Quinnipiac and Boston University are Nos. 2 and 3, respectively.

• Also from the NCHC, Western Michigan is No. 10 and Omaha is No. 19. Rochester Institute of Technology is the AHA’S lone team in the poll at No. 18.

• Several NCHC and AHA teams are receiving votes for the poll: North Dakota (25 votes), AIC (5), Sacred Heart (3) and Minnesota Duluth (2).

AT AIR FORCE

• After a nine-game losing streak from November to mid January, the Falcons are 2-2 in their last four games. They split their last two series against Niagara and Army.

• The Falcons snapped an 11-game streak of letting their opponents score first, as Air Force scored the first goal in Saturday’s game against Army, which it won 6-4.

• Maiszon Balboa, a junior, earned AHA Goaltender of the Week honors for his performance against Army. Balboa earned his first-career win in game two, when he recorded 33 saves.

• Air Force is last place in the AHA standings. The Falcons are four points behind ninth-place Bentley and seven behind eighth-place Canisius. The league’s top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament.

• The Falcons host Mercyhurst this weekend. Air Force got swept against Mercyhurst on the road in November. The Falcons lead the all-time series against the Lakers 25-19-5 and have won the last three games of the series at Cadet Ice Arena.

AT COLORADO COLLEGE

• With 10 power-play goals, junior Hunter Mckown is tied for the nation’s leader in that category. Mckown has 14 total goals.

• Freshman Kaidan Mbereko is 12th in the nation with a .922 save percentage. Mbereko recorded 39 saves in CC’S loss to Denver on Jan. 27.

• Senior Noah Prokop played his 100th career game in game one of the Western Michigan series on Jan. 20.

• CC has lost four games in a row, all against top 10 opponents. The Tigers dropped game two of the St. Cloud State series before getting swept by Western Michigan and losing to Denver.

• The Tigers are 1-12-1 in their last 14 games against DU. They last won the Gold Pan series in the 2018-19 season.
