Manchin slams Biden for being pulled to the ‘extreme left’
Washington Examiner
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W. Va., slammed President Joe Biden for being pulled to the “extreme left” and pledged to mobilize the “radical middle” in the latest indication that Manchin may carry out a third-party presidential run in 2024.
In an interview with radio host John Catsimatidis Sunday on “The Cats Roundtable” on WABC 770 AM, Manchin hit President Joe Biden over his alleged catering to the radical left wing, saying it was dividing the country.
“Joe Biden has been pulled so far to the left, the extreme left, as far as liberal,” Manchin said. “Makes no sense at all; it’s not the person we thought was gonna bring the country together.”
“Washington wants you and I to be divided and the rest of America to be divided because it’s a better business model for ‘em,” he continued.
“So, I came to the conclusion I can’t change — I’ve been here 13 years. I’m not going to change it from within. And I’ve decide[d] to go around and see if I can mobilize the radical middle.”
Manchin’s political future has been up in the air after he announced that he would not run for reelection for his Senate seat. He has been flirting with a presidential run as a third-party candidate for months but hasn’t committed one way or the other.
“I don’t know what the future lies. I know that we can’t continue the direction we’re going,” he said in an interview on “CBS Evening News” when asked if he was thinking about running.
