IN 1923

One hundred eleven violations of the city traffic light ordinance requiring lights on motor cars were noted at Pikes Peak avenue and North Tejon street, from 7 to 8 o’clock last night. A large number of cars not included on the list sported technical violations in license tags which were so poorly illuminated that it was impossible to read their numbers. Four motorcycles did not have tail lights.

IN 1948

Assistant police chief Close isn’t so tough. Officer Mcclinton, a “rookie” of the force came in to see Close. “Ah, sir, I am going to be married this afternoon in Castle Rock and could I have the afternoon off?” “How could you be married in Castle Rock this afternoon unless you were off?” queried Close, a twinkle in his eye. “A very good point, sir,” replied the officer.
