Shipley Do-Nuts opens in Colorado Springs

Shipley Do-Nuts, a nearly 90-year-old, Texas-based chain, opened its first Colorado Springs location Monday at 11010 Cross Peak View, northeast of InterQuest and Voyager parkways on the city’s far north side. Shipley’s hours are from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
The 1,900-square-foot store, which includes a drive-thru, will offer more than 60 varieties of doughnuts, including Shipley’s signature plain glazed doughnut, whose hexagon shape creates a “lighter, fluffier texture,” the chain said in a news release. Other menu items include kolaches, cinnamon rolls, bear claws and coffee.
The Springs location, which will have a celebratory grand opening Nov. 6, is the third in Colorado for Shipley, which also operates in Fountain and Aurora.
Shipley was founded in 1936 in Houston; it franchises more than 330 restaurants to operators in 10 states, the release said.
The Colorado locations are operated by Utahbased franchisee Meisternuts, which operates burger and chicken restaurants and said this year it plans to add 16 Shipley locations in the Colorado Springs and Denver areas over the next several years.
