Just read the headline and article about a 36-story building being planned. Why are buildings being built this tall? Not only will they block the view of the mountains, but did the City Council get input from the fire department about how they will be able to put out a fire in buildings that tall?

They tout that younger people will be leasing those apartments, but are they really going to be able to afford it without having to bring in roommates to help pay the rent? Unless they have really excellent paying jobs, I doubt it very much.

And given the occasional high winds Colorado Springs can be subjected to, how wind resistant will these buildings be? I still remember the 100 mph winds we experienced in 2016. I don’t think we need buildings that tall.
