Today, kids still come running when they hear the instrumental version of the music-box melody playing from one of Mister Softee’s more than 600 ice cream trucks in 15 states. Les Waas, a Philadelphia adman, wrote thousands of jingles during his lifetime, but the one he penned for Mister Softee became his legacy.
